Conference registration forms

by Kevin Butler
Registration forms for this year's General Conference at George Fox University (Newberg, Oregon) are in the May Sabbath Recorder. The on-line version is posted at our website, and the mailed paper copies should be going out in the mail next week.

A fillable pdf of the registration form (where you can enter the numbers on your computer and the program adds up the dollar total) should be available on the website later next week. Once the form is completed, you will need to print it out and mail it to the registrar.

Pastors Gather in Minnesota

by Gordon P. Lawton
The 2007 biennial SDB Pastors' Conference was held April 18-21, and hosted by the Dodge Center, MN, SDB Church. Twenty-one pastors and spouses gathered to study, fellowship and learn from each other. The theme of "God's Treasure in Us" was based on 2 Corinthians 4:7--"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." (NIV) (Picture: Somber and serious pastors gather to pray before a meal)

The eight-hour Crown Financial Ministries seminar, "Journey to True Financial Freedom" was the program on Thursday the 19th, with Stu Walker of Crown Financial presenting. For some it was a reminder; for others it was new information. Crown Financial Ministries is the result of the merging of Christian Financial Concepts (started by Larry Burkett), and Crown Ministries, which was started by Howard Dayton. The first three of the eight sessions were heavy with scripture. Pastor Dale Rood, of the host church, was interested to encounter the material in this seminar as the church in Dodge Center has been working through a 10-week small group study from Crown. He noted that the material is similar, but that the small group setting and 10-week timeframe allow for more learning and application than the one-day seminar.

On Wednesday and Friday, there were Bible Studies in the first five chapters of 2nd Corinthians, as well as discussion times. Sabbath the 21st, we gathered with the Dodge Center SDB Church for worship and Pastor Andy Samuels from Miami, FL, brought the morning message. (There were times of worship Wednesday and Friday nights led by Pastor Dale Rood, host pastor, and Pastor Robert Babcock, Marlboro, NJ).

I am so thankful to the folk in Dodge Center for their gracious and skilled hosting. Thank you friends!

News from Zambia

by Kevin Butler
A Mini-message from the SDB Missionary Society

The work in Zambia is moving along very rapidly. By this I mean that we are growing, and the established churches are reaching out into the communities. We want to thank you very much for sending funds that help us with our growth and development. It is 'icing on the cake' of evangelism. It allows us to reach out further, delve deeper in the communities, and assist us as we travel to other areas.

Please keep us in mind during the rest of the year. We want you to know that our conference needs are high. The Youth will be meeting April 19-22, 2007. The women will also be meeting from May 23-27. In June we will be launching a Seventh Day Baptist Church in the capital city of Lusaka, Zambia. Then, to complete the activities, in August we will be having our annual General Conference meetings.

We plan to send delegates to attend the Malawian Annual General Conference, etc. This will encourage more interaction between the two conferences and we pray will encourage other countries to also participate in the representative visitation program. Maybe someone from the USA will want to visit us at our annual meeting as well as Malawi.

All of these activities require a high amount of financial responsibility. We would appreciate any and all donations. Please pray with us that we may be able to meet the needs for some of the activities outlined above. Thank you for your continuous support, and indeed all those contributing towards the ministry planted in Zambia.
