Summer Institute completed

by Gordon P. Lawton
What takes 130 hours over two weeks and feeds the mind and soul? Summer Institute, that's what!!

Five students from 4 states gathered at the SDB Center in Janesville, WI, to study, learn and write. This was the Summer Institute on Sabbath Theology.

(l-r in the picture: Haywood Floyd, White Cloud, MI; Helmer UmaƱa, Arlington, VA; Brent Hannah, Bay Area, CA; Kory Geske, Battle Creek, MI; Dustin Mackintosh, Thornton, CO and me)

We studied the Sabbath through the Bible and talked about why some either ignore the idea of Sabbath or think it is transferred to another day.

In this course there were no tests. However there were morning devotions, lectures, a lot of reading, and a paper to write following a two page outline. Paper lengths ranged from over 20 to over 50 pages. (double spaced, 1" margins, Courier New 12 fount).

It was a good two weeks of learning, sharing and making new friends. Now all I have to do is read the papers. Next year is SDB History.
